Introduction

Hello and welcome to Riding Winged Horses.  I am Professor Meadows and I will be teaching the class this term.  I have ridden winged horses for five years now. Like many people, I frist became interested in magical creatures at Hogwarts. Now I'm here to introduce these brillant horses to you. As for my background, this is my first time teaching at Hogwarts. Though I've tought many young children about these horses. I'm always available.

Rules

Be respectful to me, your classmates, and the animals. Any disrespect from name calling, to talking badly about a house, or kicking an animal all end in detention. Leave house issues outside the classroom. This means if you hate Slytherins or Gryffindors if there is any mention of them in my class spoken or other wise it will be considered disrespecting your classmates and me by bringing it up. We are all dust colored in here. the Animal part is pretty simple you respect them and they will respect you, which means you will be keeping fingers. Any questions feel free to PM me with them.

    Grading
I will be using the traditional OWL Grading system for this class.

90-100% O (Outstanding) or at least 330 points

80-89% E (Exceeds Expectations) or at least 280 points

70-79% A (Acceptable) or at least 230 points

60-69% D (Dreadful) or at least 180 points

0-59% T (Troll) or never show up.

How the grading works to earn a quill:
  • Each post you make is worth ten (10) points.
  • You must post at least three (3) a lesson worth thirty (30) points
  • You must post at least five (5) times in your tack rooms for a total of fifty (50) points.
  • Posting the required amount of times per lessons and in your tack room you will earn two hundred thirty (230) points earning a grade of acceptable thus earning the quill.
  • The more you post the higher your grade will be.
*Posts: I expect at least 5-6 sentences in a single post. If you post something less, you're post won't count. This is you're only warning.

Tack Rooms

What are Tack Rooms?
These work like journals else where. Riding winged horses will take more practice than what you will be getting in class so you will need somewhere else to practice other than class. That is what your tack room is for.

How do Tack Rooms work?
This is real simple. Basically beyond class you post in here at least five times practicing the skills you have learned in class. That works out to be about one a lesson in your tack room. You can practice these things as often as you want. The more posts in your tack room the better your grade will be. If you want to post other things than just what was gone over in class (i.e. mounting, saddling, riding, exercising) there will be a an approved list. See below for it.

How long do the post have to be?
They do not have to be any longer than a paragraph. This means that you must post six to eight sentences for the post to count. No one liners
Beyond the practice work from class what else can we do with the horses? The following are approved tasks you can do:
    Muck out the stall
    Brush down the horse
    Bathing the horse
    Feed and water the horse
Exercise the horse on a lunge line

If you have an questions please feel free to pm me or come by my office.
